paris airports help?

we are flying from glasgow in july to paris for a week and will be staying in the montmartre area the accomodation website states that the charles de gaul airport is the closest, i am finding the flights to be about £150 per person BUT if we fly in to beauvais airport i can get the flights for about £50 per person from ryanair.

my question is = is it worth the saving to go to beauvais airport and do taxi or even metro transfers? or is beauvais to far away? from where we will be staying. the beauvais flights are at better times also.

I%26#39;ve never flown in to the Beauvais airport, so I can%26#39;t comment in the strictest sense. But I do know that you can get a transfer in to the city from Beavais, which is much farther out than CDG, for less than the difference in the airfares you%26#39;re seeing. There are other alternatives for getting into the city too.

Thre cost of the transfer, via public transportation between CDG and Paris vs. BVA and Paris are not significant. In practical terms, the time it would take for the transfer would be approx. 45-60 mins from CDG to central Paris vs. 70-80 minutes from BVA to central Paris. Another minor disadvantage to BVA is that there is only one regular public transportation transfer available--the BVA SHUTTLE, with only one drop-off location in Paris vs. several public transportation alternatives from CDG (RER %26#39;B%26#39; train, ROISSYBUS, two(2) Les CARS AIR FRANCE Coach Routes with several different drop-off locations within Paris.

The BVA Shuttle (large motorcoach) departs from a pick-up point just outside of the BVA terminal building (fare: 13€--travel time approx 70 mins) and drops-off near PORTE MAILLOT, at the western edge of Paris. From the BVA Shuttle drop-off point you must make your own way across Paris, via taxi, Metro or bus to your final destination within Paris. As noted, this transfer takes a bit more time than transfers from CDG...but not excessively so.

So for a saving of £200...the Ryan Air route to BVA seems a substantive saving for two passengers...with SOME additional inconvenience.

There is a 13€ shuttle from Beauvais to Porte Maillot and from there you can take either the Métro or taxi to your hotel. The bus ride is approximately 1+15 to 1+45 depending upon traffic. I estimate a taxi from Beauvais to central Paris would be about 150€+ (it is a good distance from Paris).

I personally would fly into CDG and take the RER into Paris - 8.45€ and about 30 minutes. The important consideration: is the cost and time of using an airport so far away from Paris worth the money you save on the tickets?

Restaurant or cafe suggestions in Montparnasse

hey guys

ill be staying in concorde montparnasse hotel and so i guess well be eating alot in montparnasse

area

any suggestions for good restaurants

budget is about 20-30 euros per person (without alcohol)

i like restaurants that have terraces or outside seating

also any good cafes

appreciate ur help

Try Plan B at 89, rue Daguerre; that street, rue Daguerre, has several restaurants to sample.

Look for a recent thread titled something like %26quot;help with hotel location,%26quot; which has several Montparnasse-area suggestions.

Near Blvd. Edgar Quinet metro (one street off Montparnasse) there are lots of cute cafes. Good brasseries in the area as well. I have no names for you, depends on what you want to eat.

There is a restaurant called Les Raclettes at 17 blvd Edgar Quinet. Among other things, it serves raclette which is a wonderful, if rustic,

combination of boiled potatoes, slices of meat, cornichon pickles and onions. There is a machine brought to the table which heats a big slab of raclette cheese. You scrape the melted cheese on to your potatoes and meat. Delicious and different!

Cost to visit Museums

HI

What sort of costs are the Museums in Paris Approx.

Were Planning on Visiting The Lourve,Notre Damn and may be the Picasso.

Also approx cost to go up the Eiffel tower and La Arc Triumph?

Little worried about using the metro links as we are not use to underground stations, is this easy and are taxi expensive around the city.

Were planning on walking alot but sounds like we may not be able to manage all our itinery on foot?

Yes your daughter can join you in the queue jumping, and still not pay.

I don%26#39;t know all the free museums and I don%26#39;t google for TA, but you could.

Off the top of my head, you%26#39;d also get the Rodin, Beaubourg, and Marmottan. The City of Paris Museums are Free to everyone, so that would be the Petit Palais, Carnavalet and the Contemporary Art museum at the Palais de Tokyo.

Best place to stay for Stade France - Depeche Mode concert,

Hi,

I am heading to Paris for the first time on Saturday 27 June for the Depeche Mode concert at Stade France.

My wife and I are arriving by Eurotsar at around 1PM.

I have been looking at Hotels at Gare De Nord and around the stadium itself but the ones that are coming all seem to have very mixed reviews. Any Advice?

I was thinking nearer the stadium so we can walk back to our room after the concert and still commute into Paris in the afternoon before the concert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The RER-B line trains stop at several stations in the city and I%26#39;d recommend staying near any one of them EXCEPT Gare du Nord. It%26#39;s only a few extra minutes by train to the Stad from Chatelet, St-Michel/Notre Dame, Luxembourg, Port Royal or Denfert-Rochereau. Personally, i%26#39;d prefer the Latin Quarter to Gare du Nord at a cost of only an extra 8 minutes on the train.

Local Trespass Warning - will it effect me going to France

Hi I am a USC, and i might be getting a local trespass warning, so I%26#39;m freaking out about whether it will effect my trip to Paris.

Will a local trespass warning be an issue if traveling to Paris, what about rentering the US?

What in heck is a %26quot;local tresspass warning%26quot;, I doubt VERY MUCH if it is anything important at all, sounds about as scary as a parking ticket,, which will not impact your travel ability either! I think you can relax( unless you were caught tresspassing on a Federal Defence Weapons Plant, LOL )

You need to check your individual issue with the specific authorities who could deny you entrance in France, or on your return to the USA, for an official response.

If you mean that you%26#39;ve been issued with a local law enforcement %26#39;..tresspass warning..%26#39; by local authorities that bars you from entering a particular private property...because you%26#39;ve significantly violated someone else%26#39;s property rights and they%26#39;ve filed a complaint with local authorities...then this really isn%26#39;t a US or French Immigration issue.

On the other hand...if there is any sort of felony charge or conviction associated with the %26#39;trespass warning%26#39;...then you need to check the possible implications with US or French immigration agencies DIRECTLY.

I have never had a traffic ticket( yes, thats right,, never) but I once got a %26quot;warning%26quot;.. which meant no ticket, no conviction, no points, and no fines.

Much ado about nothing, I think VKGK is some poor kid who crossed a farmers field and got heck and is now scared silly.. relax ,, you can%26#39;t even confirm if you are in fact getinng said warning ( %26quot;might be%26quot;).
