Is there scaffolding around the Eiffel tower while it is being painted?

no!

They do it with abseil ropes.

There is a section surrounded by netting about half-way up; You probably won%26#39;t even notice it.

One of the towers is closed, there%26#39;s something around that...

The only thing around the Eiffel Tower regarding the elevator work is barricades at the bottom of that pillier.

There is nothing attached to the Eiffel Tower in conjunction with any work -- painting, renovations, or repairs -- that impedes your view of the Tower nor of the city FROM the Tower.

Thank you everyone for your replies. It makes me feel good that there will not be scaffolding when we visit. It will most likely be the only time we are there. BTW, the live cam shots are great.
