Paris Visite Pass and Add On to Versailles?

If I buy a Paris Visite Pass which covers zones 1-3 just exactly how do I go about buying an add-on to zone 4 for the day to get to Versailles? Once I get on the metro heading for Rive Gauche do I have to change trains? Get RER? Just what is the procedure? I don%26#39;t quite get it since we%26#39;ll be having a metro pass or do we just buy a completely separate ticket from our origin to Versailles and forget about the pass for the day? Any info would be appreciated. We%26#39;ll be staying at Les Jardins du Marais not far from Bastille. Thanks.

IMO just stick with the 1-3 and buy a separate train ticket to Versailles.

Hey Bob,

Use your pass to take the Metro, the 5 train from Bastille, to Austerlitz. At Austerlitz, you will have to buy a ticket for the RER C, about 5 euro round trip (I forget the exact price).

Total travel time from Marais to Versailles is about 50 minutes, not including the time you may spend waiting for the next RER C (which run every 15 minutes).

Another tip, the RER trains are named, kind of like Amtrak trains are. Get on any train whose name begins with V, that should take you to Versailles.

Coming back, every train leaving Versailles goes to Paris. Very easy.

There are no %26#39;..add-ons..%26#39; to transportation passes. They are valid for the Transportation Zones listed. So with a Zone 1-3 PV, you will need to purchase a separate round-trip Ticket for VERSAILLES-Rive Gauche (Zone 4--5,80€ r.t.).

Thanks all for the input. Much appreciated.
