Hi,
Would like to check if anyones has received tax refunds on their champagne purchases at Moet %26amp; G.H Mumm?
Thks.

Why not ask directly via their websites;
http://www.moet.com/
http://www.mumm.com/
Remember that at source refund processing is subject to a minimum purchase. Someone here will know what the minimum is but I know that it is a significant amount.

Not sure if wines are included in the VAT refund scheme....but as noted the MINIMUM purchase amount to qualify for a VAT refund for France, at the SAME shop, on the SAME day, is 175.01€...and to complicate matters, the goods claimed for a full VAT refund may (probably will) have to be presented to the French Customs at the airport for inspection/verification. Since airport security will not allow bottles of wine to be included within carry-on baggage, the wine will have to be part of your Checked Baggage allowance...and may incur airline baggage %26#39;over-weight%26#39; fees (wine is HEAVY). In addition to this, if the quantity is more than a couple/few bottles, you will probably also be assessed a Customs/Import duty/tax by your destination country when you return.
The larger vitners may offer some form of %26#39;..de taxe..%26#39; scheme (partial--most usually 12%--VAT refund) at point-of-purchase for customers. Yo would have to check DIRECTLY with Moet %26amp; G.H Mumm to find out if they offer a %26#39;de taxe%26#39; sales scheme for certain.

Thank you for your advice. Had written to Moet %26amp; Mumm directly and awaiting their responses. To note: This is now AFTER the fact as we were NOT given VAT forms %26amp; proper sales invoice.
For those who are making purchases at the cellar%26#39;s showroom, do REQUEST for a VAT form and proper sales invoice, and not just a simple plain receipt which is NOT acceptable at the airport.
This is to prevent any potential unpleasant experience for fellow TA friends....

I%26#39;m still not sure that%26#39;s quite correct. The VAT form is just that--a blank form--that you fill-in and provide with receipts and good for inspection at a French Customs desk. they inspect the form, the receipts and merchandise (if necessary), stamp the form that it is in order and then you must mail it to the VAT refund agency for a full (19.6%) VAT refund.
The VAT refund form that a point-of-sale merchant fills out is most usually for %26#39;..de taxe..%26#39; sales--for an immediate partial VAT refund (most usually 12%) through a private third-party VAT refund agency.
Did you have the wine in your possession for inspection at the French Customs desk?...or just merchant receipts??

We had the bottles ready and the sales receipts but Tax Customs officials said that these were insufficient as the merchants should issue us the VAT forms %26amp; proper sales invoices.

For any VAT refund, you are supposed to show the merchandise so make sure you go to the refund desk before you check your luggage. This is not always convenient and I usually end up not waiting in the refund line.
