Hi, I am visiting Nice in the next few weeks and I am hoping to go into Monte Carlo for the day. Would it cost much to get a taxi there and back? or is it just as easy and cheaper to use bus or train?
thanks, Mark.

Very cheap by bus(1e) or train (3e), a taxi will be very much more,
Train and bus journies both very nice, I normally go there by bus and come back by train

Bus is cheapest at 1 euro single, 2 euros return. There are the 100 by the basse corniche (road by the sea), the 100x express by the motorway (fast, no stops between Nice and Monaco), or the 112 by the moyenne corniche (through Eze Village). All leave from the bus station in Nice. There are often long queues tho%26#39; and I%26#39;ve seen buses with passengers standing all the way and having to leave some to wait for the next. The 100 is about every 15 to 20 minutes, 100x every hour, and 112 about every hour and 30 mins.
Train is more expensive, I think about 4 euros.
A taxi can be anything from about 70 euros upwards one way. Always check the price with the driver before setting off.

I was in Nice last week and we took bus #100 to Monaco. It was pretty easy. The main bus station in Nice is called %26quot;Gare Routiere%26quot; (on the map). The bus station is kind of spreadout, so it%26#39;s best to ask where to catch the bus to Monaco (the bus is clearly marked once you find where to catch it).
There are a few stops in Monaco, we got off on the first one (which drops you off near the Cathedral and Prince Alberts castle). You can walk up the hill to the castle and cathedral. Walk around the cathedral back down the hill and you will pass the Musee Oceanagraphique (aquarium).
The Monte Carlo casino is around the bay(very long walk) so we hopped back on the bus #100 at the bottom of the hill and it dropped us off right at the front of the casino.
Catch bus #100 again back to Nice. The bus stop is a few blocks up from the casino (to the left of Barclay bank).

Roadworks in Villefranche are causing long delays at the moment so if you wish to go by bus take the 100 express via the motorway. If you want the scenic route without the traffic jams take the train.
There a lifts all over Monaco that will cut down many long walks.

Okay thanks. I think I will just use the train as my method of transport to Monte Carlo.
Thanks for the help.

A little tip for seeing all of monaco - take the little tourist train - get on below the cathedral in the old town (up in the castle region), travel to monaco is better by bus, take the 100, sit on right side for spectalular views, get off 2nd stop in monaco just at bottom of entrance to castle complex. get bus at the gare routier and u will get seat ok.

hi does anybody know how long it would take to get from nice to monaco on the 100 bus? i keep finding info regarding price and how often it stops, but nothing about how long it takes! someone please heeeelllpp!!!!

Normally, reckon on 50 mins. Can be more or less depending on the traffic.

If you are going to Monaco only, then perhaps the train is a better choice. The bus really gets packed.
If you are going to stop in the middle for Eze, then the bus is the option.

The train journey hugs the coast to Monaco and it the far better option in my opinion.
