I have a 5 hour layover in Paris. I hate waiting at the airport. I am wondering if a quick visit from the airport to the Eiffel Tower is doable?
On another trip I plan to spend much more time exploring Paris, this is more just a case of something to do intsead of waiting at the airport.
If it is doable, any suggestions on how best to get there?
Thanks for your help.

i think 5 hours is a little too tight to head to the city. Even if you ran and hopped on the RER that is 40 min plus another 10 to 15 on metro. That is an hour at least travel time one way. not counting getting through immigration and being back on time for the next flight. I would get a good book and plan the next stop in Paris

Hi --
We all did the numbers here a few months ago, and reached the consensus that a minimum of 8 hours is necessary to make a trip into Paris from CDG. The biggest problem is that you really need to be walking through the door of CDG at least 3 hours before your flight to be able to pick your way through the maze of long lines at that airport.
Nobody has yet to figure out just why and how these lines accrue, but accrue they do and you have to get through them in time to be at the gate for your next flight.
You don%26#39;t say what time your flights are, but you might better enjoy occupying your time at the coffee shop or restaurant at the hotel attached to the airport - I think it%26#39;s a Marriott. A couple of hours there and you%26#39;ll be ready to run the gauntlet that is CDG to get to the gate for your next flight. Be sure to check the Departures TV to be sure that your gate hasn%26#39;t been changed before you get too far in any direction,
BTW, do not even think about leaving the airport without the boarding pass for your next flight.
