Make your way to Gare St Lazare in Paris, and buy a ticket for Vernon. Trains leave at 07.20, 08.20, 10.20; taking 46 minutes for the journey; and costing €12.10. The bus from Verdon to Giverny leaves from outside the station.
Return is the opposite.

The earlier you arrive the fewer other people on that lovely bridge as you take photographs. The garden opens at 9.30am.

I booked a bike tour with Fat Tire bike tours to tour Giverny.

When is your bike tour? We are considering this also. I would love to do one of their Paris tours but my family is afraid of biking in Paris. Also, I do a lot of biking/spinning and they don%26#39;t, so they are concerned about endurance required. I can%26#39;t imagine it is too hard.

Hello,
My name is Kate and I am with Fat Tire Bike Tours in Paris. Our bike tour to Monet%26#39;s garden is extremely leisurely and we welcome riders of all levels. We also take several breaks along the way so I would tell your family not to worry about their fitness level.
Enjoy your stay in Paris!

trixie, I have done two of the Fat Tire Bike tours. You do not have to be fit,, spinning classes not needed. The ones in Paris you could basically be terribly unfit and still do as Paris ( in the area you will touring) is basically flat. You cycle for 10-20 minutes then stop ,, and so on and so on. You stop for ice cream.. they are very pleasant, and its a gas riding in Paris. I am from a small city and I thought it would be scary, but it was fun.
The bike tour to Versailles ,, well one should be normal fit.. like if you could walk one mile you could do the tour.. it is a bit more riding, and only one slow long gentle hill.
I plan on taking Fat Tire Bike tour to Giverny , it looks very easy. You don%26#39;t even have to lift your bike onto the train ( like you do for Versailles tour).
Contact FT Trixie, they all speak english( as they are all Americans) and they can tell you how easy it will be.

In regards to danger, there are bike lanes everywhere now and the groups are wearing security gear, which makes them hard to miss. I%26#39;d go with my kids.
