I%26#39;ve been checking the bus lines, etc and think I have a plan for our upcoming trip. Please let me know if this sounds correct, or if I%26#39;m missing something - I%26#39;d appreciate it.
We%26#39;re staying in Nice and I%26#39;d like to spend one day going to Eze and Villefranche. I%26#39;ll find out from the hotel where bus 100 picks up and we will take the but to Eze Bord-de-Mer train station. From there I should be able to find the Nieztsche trail up the Eze Village.
We%26#39;ll walk up to the village, and then down again and catch bus #100 again in the direction to Nice but will get off in Villefranche at the Octroi station.
When we%26#39;re ready to head back to Nice, we%26#39;ll go back to the bus stop and again catch #100 to Nice.
Sounds pretty easy, and we%26#39;re just wandering towns for the day - if this sounds like I%26#39;ve made a silly mistake can you please correct me?
thanks

Hi Selkie -
I thought we%26#39;d plan to walk, and then if we decide we%26#39;re too lazy or after walking up we%26#39;d prefer not to walk down - I think there is the #83 bus, or if all else fails - hail a cab.
We do enjoy walking, and I%26#39;d like to do a lot of walking on this trip but you never know what the weather will be like, or how my family will feel about undertaking the walk on that particular day. Usually, we enjoy these adventures - or at least I do, and they tag along.
However, if walking won%26#39;t do, I do know there are buses with direct access to the village. We can play it by ear, but the idea of walking appeals to me.

to be sure of a taxi you would probably need to arrange for one by phoning in advance as there are only 2 taxis noted for Eze by the tourist information office and they sounds like single driver outfits
Eze Village - Taxi Carlos Tome : 33 (0) 6 09 84 17 84 - carlos.tome@orange.fr
Eze Bord de Mer - Taxi Lionel Vallée: 33 (0) 6 18 44 77 93

hi there, have just got back from visiting eze, and nice, we found there are 2 bus companies running from bus station, we caught the 82 ligne d azur bus, which took us on the top road to eze, if you want to miss the crowds go early! eze is beautiful ,and well worth a visit, we like walking also, and saw the path mentioned, bit too far for us though! We did catch the 100 bus with the tam bus company, costing 1 euro for as far as you want to go, we stayed on till menton, very pretty, enjoy your travels!

Selkie - thanks for the phone numbers, I%26#39;ll bring them with me in the event we decide not to walk it.
Storyman - Glad you enjoyed Eze, I%26#39;ve heard both good and not so good (due to too much tourism) about the town. We%26#39;ll be there in October, so I am hopeful it won%26#39;t be too overrun with the likes of us. Did you visit any other towns in the area?
|||
October is normally ok - not empty but not heaving with people

we visited monaco/monte carlo , menton too, and on a previous visit went up to grasse, very fragrant town due to lots of purfume houses being there! i think you can get a bus there, we als enjoyed mandelieu la napoule, which had a nice old house to visit, tour was in french, but guide book in english which helped! in nice town, we really enjoyed castle hill gardens(lots of steps!) but beautiful views, walking round the cours saleya market in the old town, which had an amazing choice of fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers, and on mondays lovely french antiques. i want to go back! hope this all helps.

LoveTravel,
Provided you are fairly fit, walking up to Eze is easier than walking down, as the path is very slippery in places. When you get to Eze village it is possible to continue on a further stretch of mainly well surfaced path on up to the Haute Corniche, the highest of the three roads which link Nice and Monaco. The main hazard on this stretch is that you pass expensive villas where large dogs throw themselves at the fences in the hope that one day they will be able to break through and tear you to pieces. I always find this slightly nerve racking, although it is traditional part of life in much of France. Turn left when (if) you arrive at the road and you can get to Plateau de la Justice where bus no.83 will take you to Eze Sur Mer. I would estimate the total distance from Eze Sur Mer to be about 2.5 miles. This bus also passes through Eze so you can still get it even if you don%26#39;t make it to the plateau.
Timetables for all buses to and from Eze can be seen at eze-riviera.com
Have fun,
Bob
