Hi there,
We%26#39;re planning to hire a car in Tours next month and will have 4 days to explore the Loire Valley. I was also thinking of taking my fiancee to Mt St Michel, because she%26#39;s never been to France.
But is it practical - how long would it take to drive there and back, and would it be best to go straight from Tours or somewhere else on our road trip?
Thanks in advance!

Anyone have any further advice about this topic?? Thanks if so!!

Take a look at the viamichelin.com and mappy.com web site for information on routes and approximate driving times.

Thanks for the tip!

Far too long is the answer - unless you%26#39;re concentrating on seeing sights rather than seeing France. Done properly, this is the best part of a day. You can do it in about 3 hours each way if you see nothing on the way and take the autoroute or 4 hours if you avoid the autoroute, but it%26#39;s a hell of a thing to do, driving 1/2 way across a country just to look at an island with a church on it.
Use Google maps - easier to custom make yourself a route.http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d%26amp;source=s_d%26amp;saddr=Tours%26amp;daddr=47.563554,0.284271+to:D21+to:Pontorson,+Manche,+Basse-Normandie,+France%26amp;geocode=%3B%3BFVQZ2wId3O74_w%3BFZfe5AIdVwrp_w%26amp;hl=en%26amp;mra=dpe%26amp;mrcr=0%26amp;mrsp=1%26amp;sz=10%26amp;via=1,2%26amp;sll=47.67371,0.009613%26amp;sspn=0.564072,1.060181%26amp;ie=UTF8%26amp;ll=48.058807,-0.777283%26amp;spn=2.23958,4.240723%26amp;z=8
