Musée des Arts Forains

From Yahoo! Travel on Sunday, April 12:

%26quot;Even Parisians haven%26#39;t heard of the Musée des Arts Forains, located in the Pavillons de Bercy in southeastern Paris. Visiting the museum is like stepping into a 19th-century fairground, with the music, the artistry, and beautifully restored pieces from old fairs, including a gorgeous carousel. The museum is interactive and entirely enchanting — an incredibly visual experience, and one that also appeals to your other senses. It%26#39;s also very close to terrific eating spots in the Parc de Bercy.%26quot;

Can anyone give any additional info?

You probably already have this as I pulled it off of the internet.I haven%26#39;t yet had the pleasure.

Musée des Arts Forains - Collection Jean-Paul FavandRegarding Le Musee es Arts Forains in Bercy Village. Reconstitution of a fun-fair : 14 merry-go-rounds and 16 restored fairground stalls are still working. The European Schools Museum exhibits 1552 pieces. One of the greatest collections about the fun-fair history from 1850 until nowadays.

Temporary exhibitions

By appointment only. Groups from 15 to 50 persons. 1h30 tour.

Fee per person : 11.50 euros

The only way to see it is to reserve by email in advance. Send an email to diane@pavillons-de-bercy.com

I am awaiting a response from my email, I understand from In Love With Paris that Diane may be waiting for an interest level to arrange a group. The tour is in French but the exhibts apparently speak for themselves.

The description of the Jean-Paul Favand Collection of fairground and carnival rides, games and equipment barely does credit to the collection itself. As the saying goes, %26#39;..it%26#39;s FUN for children of all ages..%26#39;.

What needs to be said is that the curators of these collections have never really liked %26#39;..sharing..%26#39; their great toys with others. Even before the museum shifted its quarters from the 15eme to the new Pavilions de Bercy complex (originally wine storage warehouses), open/closed hours were a %26#39;hit or miss%26#39; affair. Entry to the new MUSÉE des ARTS FORAINS at Pavillions des Bercy is --BY APPOINTMENT ONLY-- through one of their tours (12,50€ adult/4€ child). You can%26#39;t just %26#39;..drop-in..%26#39; and browse around if you%26#39;re in the neighborhood.
