So I am working my way through all the apartment threads...
Am considering spending 3 weeks in Paris - from about July 10th to take a course. ideally would like an apartment in either the 11th or Marais within about a 20 minutes max walk from Filles de Calvaire Metro. Does not have to be anthing fancy or large but would want 2 separate beds and if possible an internet connection. of course we don%26#39;t want a real dump...
Is it even feasible to think we could find something acceptable in the 1000 to 1200 Euro range? If so, does anyone have suggestions for either a company to look at that specializes in budget properties.? Or even better a specific apartment someone actually stayed in.
merci beaucoup

You might find it a challenge to get a place for 3 weeks for 1000E. However, use the %26quot;search%26quot; function on this site and check out %26quot;budget apartments%26quot; or something like that. I imagine it will be easier to find that price range in the 11th than in the Marais. The 11th has become more popular in the last few years than it was, however.
Also use the %26quot;search%26quot; function to see the main rental companies. Just go from one to the next looking for your price range. Don%26#39;t worry so much about which arrondissement it is located in. The Metro system is so good you can get anywhere in paris in a few minutes.
Ask questions if you have them.

Thanks Inlovewithparis.
However, long before I posted the question I put many search terms in the search area. 11th Budget apartment yielded 83 PAGES of results. Budget apartment 122 Pages... There is also an excellent thread by touring24 which tries to consolidate apartment info.
I fully agree with you that the Paris metro system is excellent and easy to use and relatively reasonable in price and have and again plan to use for sightseeing and getting around. However, we have decided that we would like to be able to walk to and from the place the classes are being held. Hence my specific request for an area - or radius. I figured that someone may have some suggestions.
An acquaintance who was there a few years ago said she had luck by putting an %26quot;apartment wanted%26quot; ad on Craig%26#39;s list and got several replies and a suitable apartment. While I would consider looking into the ads post on CL, I am not sure how comfortable I would feel relying on people who replied to an ad I put out there.
Thanks.

Those are all excellent points, raquel. I hope someone responds to your post who has more specific information than I do.

Your points are very valid and excellent too. And I do appreciate your reply. I will continue using the various searches and see what I can come up with.
Happy Easter to all

Just to clarify, are you looking for E1000 per week or for the whole 3 weeks?

1000 euros TTC for 3 weeks comes down to 47 euros per night. That%26#39;s a tough call. The only agency I think can come close is www.centreparis.com I stayed in one of their 1 bedroom units for 54 euros per night. You can give them a try.
I%26#39;d send them an email telling them what you are looking for (price-wise) and for how long. They will reply as to whether they can work something out or not.
I%26#39;ve not found a cheaper alternative - yet.
They have no additional fees either (short of a cleaning fee - IF you elect it). No security deposits, etc. keeping your cost down.
Good luck.

I%26#39;ve found apartments on www.homelidays.com to be of good value generally - however you are dealing directly with owners, which may not be ideal for you. We%26#39;ve booked two places through the site for our forthcoming trip and so far, all contact with the owners has been good (but I did some pretty extensive research on the places and people beforehand!).
My computer is playing up at the moment (bless it), so I%26#39;ve only been able to have a quick look on the site for places in your favoured price range/location but there seemed to be some - worth a try at any rate.

Hi all,
Thanks for your replies.
Lynn,I was hoping to stay in the 1000 to 1200 for the whole stay. But I realize I am being lets say overly optimistic and unrealistic expecting this for Paris in the summer. I actually am resigned to the fact that I will probably end up at at least double that.
Toutou and halwimsey, thanks for the links and the ideas. I actually had looked at centreparis before and it has some possibilities.
My fears are not about renting direct from an owner if they advertise on a sight like homeholidays.com. I was more sceptical about putting my own ad on Craig%26#39;s List seeking an apartment, like the acquaintance did and not knowing anything about those who might reply... At least if an owner advertises on a reputable sight, I guess I feel that is some level of reassurance.
Thanks again.

we had an apartment for 1500 E for a month about 5 years ago -- it was in the 20th and fabulous
you do get a break on monthly rentals but I am not sure much of one on just 3 weeks
at that price now that close in for 3 weeks in height of tourist season, I would think that 400 a week would get you a dump if you are lucky -- for 700 or so a week, maybe.
