Passport control at Gare du Nord - Eurostar

Hi everyone,

I%26#39;m hoping some folks with experience can tell me if I should expect any difficulties boarding the Eurostar train to London. My problem is that I speak very little French - will this be a problem in navigating the boarding areas and passport control?

Thanks

Hi

If You have made it to Paris then you are in EUROPE, Onward travel to any other destination within europe should be no problem as long as you have a valid passport!!

|||

We just did it two weeks ago and had no problems whatsoever. The Eurostar staff spoke English very well as did the passport control people.

Enjoy the Eurostar experience!

Excellent news! Thank you so much. :)

Of course it would be so much easier if UK joined the Schengen area.

Any passport control leaving France will not be French - there may (or may not) be UK passport control at Gare du Nord. If you are on the last train of the day passport control could be on board the train, or the passport control could be in London when you arrive.

They keep things fluid

Last month I went through French passport control before reaching British passport control at Gare du Nord.

Me too - first time I used Eurostar in 2007 I went through French Customs in UK for entry into France and British Customs in Paris for entry into Uk , this year it was French again in the UK and British and French at Paris . I think that is the norm now??

I guess having French passport control in Paris is part of keeping things fluid - but if youw ere travelling around the time of the g20/Nato things security was a bit silly - even on the ferries

You should not have any problems. Most people speak both languages. In fact, my boyfriend was with me at the time, and he is Mexican, now living in Canada, and had no issues, and does not speak a word of French.
