Musée d'Orsay Restaurant

I can see how beautiful this is but can%26#39;t find a menu for a Thursday evening dinner. Does anyone have any experience here?

I am not surprised there is no menu, it wasn%26#39;t anything spectacular/ elaborated, for lunch sounded more like club sandwiches and soups and maybe pasta, so very basic, i am not sure there is a chef changing menus regularly. But the restaurant is beautiful. And they may be doing something more elaborate for dinner?

I have visited the Musee D%26#39;Orsay 4 times and on the first 3 visits looked longingly at this beautiful cafe.

My first visit was almost 20 years ago - several months backpacking through Europe. My budget allowed a visit to the museum to look at the amazing artwork - it certainly didn%26#39;t allow dining somewhere that looked that fancy!

My next visit 15 years ago was a quick weekend stopover in Paris - I made time to visit my favourite museum but timewise I had to choose between the art or the food - the art won!

My third visit 5 years was with my 2 children. I thought they were too young to be good enough to get through both the museum and a meal.

On my most recent visit a year ago I was determined to finally eat there even though as luck would have it we weren%26#39;t hungry.

I discovered, as raphy says, that the food was quite simple. In reality I probably had the time and money for a quick snack on all my previous visits.

My son (who can always eat!)had a toasted sandwich I think. My husband and I had a coffee and shared a pastry. My daughter just an Orangina.

We lingered for a while and discused our favourite artworks from the museum and what we were going to do next.

It was a lovely time - very relaxing - but not a gourmet delight.

I%26#39;ve only had lunch, it was simple but I love the beautiful restaurant.

Here%26#39;s a bit about dinner, it%26#39;s in French though:

%26quot;La visite du Musée + le dîner (hors boissons) est proposé au prix de 42 euros (entrée + plat + dessert).

Le client a aussi le choix de dîner à la carte et d%26#39;y découvrir quelques plats de haute-tradition comme la Crème Dubarry ou le Suprême de Canard aux Pêches et son Gratin Dauphinois. En dessert : Brioche en Pain Perdu, Glace Cannelle et Sirop d%26#39;Erable...%26quot;

It says that a visit to the museum and dinner (without drinks) is 42 Euros (entrée + main + desert). And you can also choose to have dinner a la carte (a few choices from the a la carte are listed).

Thank you-for the input, I will send an email and see if I can get any particulars about the menu. The setting will certainly compensate for a lot.

The museum is open only a certain night of the week. I don%26#39;t think they serve an evening meal. The room is absolutely gorgeous. I had a very nice meal there about 2 p.m. last fall. I had no complaints.

Thank you all for your responses. I wanted to follow up. I sent an email to the restaurant and promptly received a lovely reply from Sabine with the menu attached. There is a range of offerings from duck, salmon, steak to shark fillet and it looks terrific.

Would you mind posting the menu? I%26#39;m debating whether to make a lunch reservation or Thurs. dinner and would love to have an idea of what might be served. I was there years ago for lunch and loved the roast game hen with mushroom flan!
