While living in San Francisco for 10 years there was a French company (JC Decaux, as I recall) made a deal to put on various streets in SF automated toilets in exchange for advertising on the outside of them. They are great (when they work, of course). Anyway, my question is I understand they have them on Paris streets as well and was wondering if there is some website listing WHERE they are exactly located (which streets) and the cost in Euro coins to gain access. Many a time I used one in SF when I couldn%26#39;t locate a restaurant, etc. Can anyone shed some light on this in Paris. I%26#39;d like to have the right coins in my pocket just in case and know where they are. Thanks!

Thanks for posting this info. Already went online from your link and bought the very cheap guide to street toilets. You%26#39;re the best!

There are, according to the website of the city of Paris, about 400 %26quot;sanisettes%26quot; in Paris - so Coleen%26#39;s list of 36 only shows a fraction of them.
You can find a listing of all the sanisette locations per arrondissement on paris.fr/portail/Environnement/Portal.lut…

And they are all free.

free and creepy,, LOL
I HAD to try one two years ago.. and it freaked me out, I was so worried it would just open automatically and there I would be in all my glory, or worse, that it would start to spray down the insides with me stuck inside. The insides are all wet,, eww, but fairly cleanish,, but I just did not enjoy it one little bit.. I was alot more careful to use any facilites in a cafe or museum before walking about after that!
They are better then nothing I suppose.

They are a blessing in my opinion! But yes sometimes not so %26#39;fragrant%26#39;.
|||
oh, and do I recall correctly that they are locked down after a certain hour, maybe 11pm or something? Or just some of them, perhaps discouraging a street person from camping out?
|||
Any cafe in the city will let you use their facilities if you ask nicely.

Just an update. I did purchase using PayPal the little guide you print out at home for $3 something. However, the KEY they provided me did not work and I e-mailed them back to help, but no response yet. Disappointing. Just a heads up. The guide really looks great and $3. something isn%26#39;t a lot to lose, but just annoying. Buyer beware. I%26#39;ll post again if they do come through and help me out printing it. Thanks all for the great input though.
