tgv train

My wife and I together with another couple are going on holiday from the 1st to the 8th of July 2009. We are staying 4 nights in Tours at the Hotel Ladresse and 3 nights at the Chateau des Ormeaux. We shall arrive at Charles de Gaulle Airport at 16.00hrs. We are going to rent a car and I am undecided if it is more convienent and cheaper to take to TGV train to Tours or drive there from Paris. I have visited the SNCF and TGV Websites but can not obtain ticket information so far ahead. If anyone knows what an average return, undiscounted, 2nd class, TGV ticket to Tours costs it would be of great help to us.

If you can%26#39;t get information for your travel date because it is too far ahead, use a date in the near future to find out train times and costs.

Using a date of 9 April on www.voyages-sncf.com gives a price of €55.40 for a TGV from Paris to Tours.

First of all thank you for your quick reply. I have tried this system of setting an earlier date and I keep getting that there are more destinations and I am required to select from options. When I do this I still do not get an itenerary or a price.

The SNCF website will not win any awards as one of the best designed sites on the internet.

I have had this same problem, selecting different options sometimes works but the secret is to just keep trying.

There are fares available now on www.voyages-sncf.com from CDG to Tours Centre (taking the shuttle from St. Pierre des Corps) for 39.20€ departing at 16h24. Try again and be sure your origination and destination include the department number (the 2 digit number in parenthesis), persistence will eventually get you what you want.

You will need to try tomorrow, the 8th for travel on the 8th of July.

Thank you for your help. I found that if you make the reservation in french the system will carry out your booking. I was quoted a price of euro 277 for 4 persons 2nd class.
