We are planning to travel from Paris to Nice at the start of June this year, but the TGV ticket prices run to hundreds of pounds each.
I%26#39;ve been trying to find prices for something called a saverpass which would apparently give a 15% discount. Ideally we would get a 2 adult pass for France only or just buy the direct tickets Paris to Nice.
1) Does you know whether we can buy a pass at Gare Du Nord or if we have to purchase in advance?
2) Are there any discount TGV fares to be found? I%26#39;ve tried the main website and Railbookers but drawn a blank.
3) Are there any UK websites which sell the saverpasses?
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.

What web site are you using? When I go to the French railways site - www.voyages-sncf.com - I get a price of €45 to €110, depending on which train I want to use.
To get the best prices you need to book in advance through the SNCF web site, in French. Hints on how to do this are at seat61.com/…20voyages-sncf.com

I am also going from Paris to Nice, but in May. I found it cost half the price and half the time to fly. Check www.skyscanner.com for rates.

My friends who live in Nice have found that flying Easyjet to Paris is cheaper and easier than the train.

I should have added that the Easyjet option only works if you don%26#39;t have a lot of baggage.
You pay extra for bags which have to go in the hold (no more than 20kg) but they are quite lenient about the weight of carry-on luggage (you have to be able to lift it yourself into the overhead locker). Even with a 20kg bag in the hold, I still found flying cheaper than the train (but it can depend on the day you check the fares).
