Free Parking organized by the City at the other side of the

Hello,

I read from one of the travel website that Avignon city has organized a big free parking just outside the city center - at the other side of the river - and every quarter hour, there is a free shuttle bus which brings you to the city walls.

Can someone direct me how to find this free parking?

What does it mean at the other side of the river?

Thanks so much.

I do not know for sure but they may be referring to the other side of the Rhone River. Could be on the Isle du Barthelasse. I found some info on the Avignon Tourist site under parking. Here is the link:

I haven%26#39;t seen the article you are referring to, but there is exactly that a free parking lot (large) with a free shuttle to the city centre located on the road that runs along the river Rhone (before you reach Hotel Mercure%26#39;s pay parking lot (in the direction of Carpentras).

There is also another one just across the bridge Daladier heading towards Villeneuve.

Here is a map of all the parking in Avignon: some a pay, some are free and the ones with navettes are noted.

You can also click on access maps that show a bit more detail.
