I am travelling to Lourdes for two days with two friends that are religious. I am looking forward to this part of the trip and can appreciate what it represents to them but if there are other things to do that does not revolve around the miracle of St Bernardette I would like to know. Please advise

Apart from %26#39;going for long walks in the Pyrenees%26#39; or %26#39;going to the pub!%26#39; I can%26#39;t really recommend anything, but perhaps this will help:

Well worth a visit is the castle in the centre of Lourdes. It is on a high hill way above the town and has panoramic views around the whole area.

1. You do not say when you are going which might make a difference.
2. The %26quot;Little Train%26quot; leaves from near the grotto every half hour, about $10. It takes an hour to get round the town but you can get off at about 8 stops and get back on again. It stops at about 8 museums.
2a. One of the stops, out of town, is the Pic de Jer. Get off the train and go up the funicular. The views are breathtaking and the ice cream, coffee and cakes are not bad. There is a one hour optional tour of the caves. Allow a full afternoon
3. The %26quot;Chateau Fort%26quot; is well worth a half day visit. Local history and crafts.
4. There is a coach station on the Rue Paradis but many shops also sell the tickets. Full day and half day excursions are available to Spain, the beach and swimming at Biarritz, the mountains at Gavarnie
5. There is a good Farmers Market, I think every day near the town hall.
6. Even if you are not too religious the Torchlight Procession is quite moving, stats 2100 hours.
7. Sit in a cafe and watch the world go by.
8. Finally. Enjoy. There is something for everyone.
God Bless

Thank you for your reply, we are only in Lourdes for two days early in May, I like all the suggestions that were offered and will look into them all.
