Notre Dame

We%26#39;ll be in Paris from tomorrow until Thursday.

Does anyone have any advice for climbing the towers over the Easter period?

Will Easter have an impact on visiting hours?

(It%26#39;s really over from tomorrow anyway.)

Is there a good time/day to go - is there a crowd assending or is it more civilised?

Single file?

I know that there is 387 steps - so we%26#39;re prepared for that.

Finally - is there an age restriction?

Thanks for any answers to the above.

When I was there a few weeks back it opened at 10. Be there about 10 to 10 and hopefully you%26#39;ll be in the first group to go up.

They let groups of 20 up about 10 minutes apart and the line gets long fast so if you%26#39;re not there at opening you could be waiting for an hour or longer.

I%26#39;m not sure exactly what you%26#39;re asking about the crowd. They make you line up along the side of Notre Dame kind of single file. When you go up the stairs you have to be single file because it%26#39;s so small.

I didn%26#39;t see any age restrictions but they do recommend pregnant women and people with heart conditions don%26#39;t go up. As long as you%26#39;re reasonably healthy it%26#39;s do-able.

You go up one set of stairs, stopping at a gift shop, then crossing the Chimera Gallery, then finally all the way to the top (which you don%26#39;t have to do). So you aren%26#39;t climbing all the stairs in one shot. You come down a different set of stairs all at once but you have gravity on your side.

I really enjoyed it and highly recommend doing it.

We just returned from Paris and Notre Dame was our favorite overall experience (40yo me and my 11yo daughter). We got in line for the towers (Palm Sunday) at 9:45 and were near the front. Unfortuneately they delayed the opening by 45 minutes due to the bells or something??? But no worries - the wait was worth it and we spent the time chatting with people from Italy, France and Ireland. We could hear the mass organ music from the gift shop wooden doors and it inspired us to attend mass later in the day.

The line looked excrusiatingly long later in the day.

momandwee - early it is so - thanks.

We%26#39;re staying on Place des Pyramides, so it will be easy enough!
