From Annecy to CDG

At the end of our month in France, we will be driving on a Thursday from Annecy to CDG where we will turn in the car, spend the night and leave mid-morning on a Friday.

My mistake was that I booked us 7 nights in Annecy (an apt.) instead of 6 so we could have had another night along the route between Annecy and CDG, which would have been much more relaxing. We will not have seen anything of the Burgundy region or the Chamagne towns (too many places, too little time). So we figured we are in no rush to get to CDG just to crash at the end of a long trip, so we might as well make our way leisurely between Annecy and CDG and not worry about when we will arrive (at CDG) Thursday evening.

Any suggestions for lunch or other stops we might make along the way? OR if we WERE to skip out of our last night in Annecy, what would be an interesting town/village to stay in on Wednesday night before continuing on to CDG on Thursday after some sight-seeing int he area?

(there is always the idea of dumping the car in Annecy and taking the train back to Paris for one last glimpse/night--we will have begun the trip there--but I swear the train site makes me feel like a 5 year old, and even Morgan%26#39;s helpful post is most daunting! I must decide soon as I am booking the car in the next day or two and need a return location)
