Hi-
I know it%26#39;s a bit early to be asking..but hey, it%26#39;s never to early to start day dreaming about your upcoming trip ;).
I%26#39;ll be in Paris from around April 18-26. It will be my 6th time there..going with the boyfriend, but he will be working during the days..so I would love to meet up with anyone else who needs company? Girls, guys, whoever!
I am interested in taking a cooking class (http://www.cooknwithclass.com/)..and I would LOVE to take a day trip to Reims and do champagne tasting..and really feel like I can%26#39;t do this alone, but I will if need be. Or maybe just meet up for lunch and walking around town.
Post here or message me..and I will bring this up again as the dates gets closer!!!
Also, anyone in Paris, now, want to organize something as well? :)
Oh, a bit about me - I am 31, and will be celebrating completing medical school! I love to eat and drink wine..and paris is one stop of many on a 38 day journey through the culinary cities in Europe.

I%26#39;m not sure if you%26#39;re still watching this topic----Did you ever connect with anyone? I just saw your post and realized my DH and I will be there around the same time. It turns out we did get reservations for Cookn With Class and we were lucky because he was pretty booked up the whole week we%26#39;re there.
So, I was just curious if you decided on anything.
Now I%26#39;m looking into a Reims day trip, but the cost of an organized tour may cause us to scratch this idea since we%26#39;re shelling out a pretty penny for the cooking class. We%26#39;ll see!

Pampered...
If you search this forum for %26quot;Reims%26quot; or %26quot;Reims Day Trip%26quot; you will find many entries detailing how to take your own Day Trip there from the Gare L%26#39;est. I%26#39;ve visited Reims before by car en route to Germany and the Train Station is about a mile from the Cathedral (where the ancient Kings of France were crowned) and there%26#39;s a Dept of Tourism office nearby. They have info on all the Champagne Houses and schedules of tours, etc. Most are located in town. Many TA members have done that...the expense being the train, lunch, and 12E or so to visit on of the Champagne Houses. Near the train station, there is the Free WWII Musee` at the Lycee Roosevelt, the American HQ of Eisenhower where the Germans surrendered in May %26#39;45. There%26#39;s a short film and then you can tour the exhibits (the room is preserved exactly as when the surrender took place) including ALL the American Newspapers Front Pages of the Surrender. I found it unique and well worth the hour or so to see it.

Thanks RM!
This is what I%26#39;m leaning toward if we do decide to do the day trip. It%26#39;ll be fun to be a little more adventurous. I%26#39;ve done lots of searching on TA. For those of you who have done it yourselves, I had a couple questions. I think we%26#39;d do the TGV, then take a cab (although walking a mile or so to the cathedral/tourism center won%26#39;t be bad if the weather is ok). We%26#39;d take a cab to one of the champagne houses and if it%26#39;s close enough, maybe walk to another one?? But I%26#39;d assume we%26#39;d have to go back into town to have lunch.
How easy is it to get a cab from one of the champagne houses back to the train station?? Is this about a 7 euro ride? I%26#39;m estimating to do this on our own::
58.60 euro for RT on TGV
cab @ 7 euro to champagne house
15 euro (overestimate) for each tour, so 30 for 2
So say just under 100 euro for one person, about 200 for two people?? Does this sound about right? And of course, lunch isn%26#39;t included in that.
I%26#39;m just trying to compare it to an organized tour and this seems like the way to go.
Any feedback? :) Thanks!

Oops, one more thing. How hard is it to get reservations at the tourism place once we arrive there? Or should I try to make reservations through the winery itself? What timeline would you recommend I make reservations for?
See, this is why I%26#39;m a little lost doing it myself.
Thanks in advance for any help!!
