disabled facilities in Lille?

I hope to bring my mother (79) to Lille this June. Can anyone tell me what the facilities for the not-very-mobile are like? In particular, can you hire a wheelchair at the Palais des Beaux Arts?

I don%26#39;t know about hiring wheelchairs, you may have to contact the museum, but this site is very promising for your visit. It looks like the city has been very thoughtful for its visitors with mobility problems.

Thank you very much; that%26#39;s a really helpful site.

Lille city centre is very flat with few, if any inclines of note.

There could be a problem for wheelchair users in the Old City which has many cobbled streets but most public places in the City seem to cater for the %26#39;not-very-mobile%26#39;.

I have now been in touch with the Palais des Beaux Arts (where they speak English), and it is possible to borrow/hire a wheelchair, particularly if you book or email in advance. You have to leave some sort of ID with them, which you get back when you return the wheelchair.

That is really good news. Isn%26#39;t modern communication wonderful. Hope your mum enjoys herself.

Thank you for your kind wishes. I%26#39;m sure she will!
