Les Consuls De La Mer Apartments - Port Marianne

Ive just booked a week in early May in a studio apartment here - got the bargain of the century I think! 7 nights for $185 AUD - roughly 99 euros! And there%26#39;s even a rooftop pool, I%26#39;m really chuffed about this deal. So, any tips on places to go nearby, restaurants, bicycle hire? I%26#39;m planning on day trips to Arles, Carcassone, Sete - any where else that%26#39;s a must see? Peter the DE, I%26#39;ll welcome your input. I know there%26#39;s a tram stop outside the door, so getting around won%26#39;t be a problem, %26amp; I%26#39;m an avid walker anyway.

Hi

If you get to the train station, you%26#39;ve got a choice of trips along the coast as far as Spain %26amp; Italy. And you could just (and only just) do a day trip to Paris - 3hrs each way.

Best to check out http://www.the-languedoc-page.com and come back with specific questions.

Thanks Peter for your reply, %26amp; the link you gave me - very useful. As for Spain %26amp; Italy, I%26#39;m visiting Ibiza, Barcelona then Benidorm after Ive finished in Montpellier, %26amp; Italy Ive been to many times, as well as Nice %26amp; the Cote D%26#39;Azure. I will have 3 days in Paris (my 5th visit!) on my arrival from Australia. So I really just want to explore the Languedoc region, I seem to have ignored it on my many previous visits to France. I will try %26amp; get as far as the Spanish border though, %26amp; I%26#39;m intrigued by Cap D%26#39;Agde - would like to check it out for future holidays with my Yorkshire man. Do you know if there is a pre season exhibition of %26quot;Les Joutes%26quot; at Sete between 5 %26amp; 12th May? I%26#39;d love to see one, also a bullfight - the Carmargue type, not the gory one. Anyway, I%26#39;m sure I%26#39;ll find out whats on when I get there. Again, thanks for your input - to all queries in this forum.

Cheers,

Judi

Lots of nice things on the door step - Aigues Morts - starting point for the 8th crusade, Saintes Maries de la Mer - for the corrida, The festival of Saint Sara is celebrated in SM de la M - not sure what date.

I you like the mountains - head inland to the Cévennes and Mtp%26#39;s favourite mountain - Pic St Loup.

On your door step - Chateau Flaugerues (ten mins on foot after the last tram stop at Odysseum) Or hire a bike and cycle to Maguelone - some nice dégustation nearby also.

Cape D%26#39;Agde? - lost its magic - I think.

Bon voyage?

The Montpellier tramway reaches to Port Marianne so you can take it to the train station for connections to Nimes and points east as well as to Sete and points west.

There is bus service to Palavas les Flots if you want to reach the beach and at least one day a week near the port there is a local market which has some excellent food items.
