Racism in France?

Hi, Im a black woman and I want to go visit France or Spain next year for a week or possibly more. I was wondering would I have any problems in Spain or France being a black tourist? I have always wanted to go to the coast of Spain or France.

Assuming you are not joking, no you shouldn%26#39;t have any problems due to the color of your skin.

Well, this question could actually start some interesting discussion and anecdotal experience exchange, however a first time poster could be just stirring the pot.

Plus, a serious discussion is probably not going to get real far in a fourm like this. There is certainly plenty to read on the subject, from popular press (redcently taking the question from the angle of %26quot;How can America elect a black man as President and we have not too many prospects in that regard?%26quot;); to polling results (sondage); to socio-political analyses of the %26quot;Le Pen surprise%26quot; in the 2002 presidential elections; to books like Sixty Million Frencmen Can%26#39;t be Wrong( http://s7y.us/ntl ).

So, have at it, mes amis !

Oh no seriously Im not joking and Im not being a troll. I just dont want to encounter any problems. I have been reading some blogs and people say how racist it can be over there in Europe. Im 23 and I have always wanted to travel to France or Spain. So I have an opportunity to do it next year and I would like to go. Thanks for responding to my post anyways.

Katt85, I was responding to the general question suggested by the title of your post - it is a very interesting and dynamic subject here.

As far as visiting the coast, Paris or other cities in France, I would be very surprised if you had a problem or noticed any %26quot;attitude;%26quot; I think the primary concerns are for people living and working in France, not for visitors.
