Aix to Antibes

We have 4 days planned for Aix before we move on to Avignon, but thought we might want to use one of those nights/days in Antibes or somewhere along the coast. We will need to train from there to Avignon. Does anyone think this is a good or bad idea? A recommendation for a place where 3 females with no car can stay would be most welcome. We are school teachers so price is a concern, but we still want some place that will be fun to remember. Is there a better choice than Antibes in the area?

You will be using up precious sightseeing time on the trip from Aix east over to Antibes and then back to Avignon; each way is about 2 hours. If that%26#39;s okay, then an overnight in Antibes would be fun, but Nice could be even better.

Cassis is closer and full of good restaurants if you want to be near the sea. I stayed there a week on my own a coupla years ago and loved it. My favourite restaurant is in the rue Bonaparte, it%26#39;s called the Bonaparte I think. to get to Cassis, you get the TGV to Marseille and then the local train for 20 minutes along the coast. At the station you%26#39;ll need to get a bus or taxi to the town, it%26#39;s two miles away. Cassis is lovely and well worth the effort of visiting. I stayed in Hotel le Laurence and reviewed it on here, it%26#39;s 15 seconds walk from the fishing port and the price is very reasonable. NB, like all two star French hotels it%26#39;s strictly no frills, no lift, but very clean and comfortable.
