I%26#39;m looking for tickets (1-way) for the Eurostar Paris-London trip on Sept. 18. I%26#39;ve checked both Raileurope and eurostar.com, and the fares are essentially the same - $96 one-way, $104 return.
I%26#39;ve also found several US agencies that supposedly specialize in Europe train travel - vacationsbyplaza.com and budgeteuropeantravel.com, but these must be done via phone.
Does anyone have any experience with these? I will be needing two senior tickets. I%26#39;d appreciate any info. Thanks.

The best prices I found last year when I was looking were to be had on eurostar.com. I got $54USD each way by booking on eurostar.com about five or six months prior to the travel dates. Can%26#39;t beat that with a stick! :)

How did you get a price from Eurostar.com for September when they are only taking booking as far ahead as August 5th?

I read here on TA often that you can%26#39;t purchase tickets more than three months out.
I just went back and looked. I purchased our tickets on 4/9/08 for a eurostar trip on 11/26/08...that%26#39;s a full seven months by my calculations.

It seems the US Eurostar site allows you to book earlier than the French or UK sites. Maybe Eurostar are aware that people from outside Europe may have more complicated planning to do.

Maybe that%26#39;s it Wansteader. I know I read here occasionally how you can%26#39;t buy tickets on the Eurostar very far ahead and I know it not to be true. But I don%26#39;t know what I did that was so special that I could complete the transaction seven months out. Maybe it is a US thing...

I just tried from the eurostar.com site using US as a home designation and can only see tickets out until July.

There is a site called %26#39;Eurostar.us%26#39; where tickets can be purchased much later than the %26#39;Eurostar.com%26#39; site - where UK and French travellers normally book tickets.
It seems as though tickets bought for much later in the year aren%26#39;t ordered directly from %26#39;Eurostar%26#39; but through a company called %26#39;Eurorailways.com%26#39;.
Is that how it works or have I got it wrong?

Since the latter is at it´s best a travel agency and a reseller of train tickets, I would assume that what they do is pre-reserve tickets to be actually reserved as soon as they are available.
The service plans for the trains, and thus the capacity planning, does not take place longer than 2-3 months in advance.

I sent an email and got this response from eurostar.com
Eurostar can be booked between London, Ashford, Paris, Brussels, Lille and Calais up to 120 days before the return date of your journey. If you require connections with the TGV network, their trains are available to book 90 days before the return date of your journey. It is still too early to book for the dates you wish to travel. To calculate when you will be able to book simply count the appropriate number of days back from your return date of travel.
The services to Disneyland Paris and the French Alps are sometimes made available through the call centre further ahead. You can call our contact centre on 08705 186 186 or 0044 1233 617 575 if you are calling from outside the UK. Please note that if you book over the telephone a fixed fee of £5 applies, although this will enable you to specify seating.
Kind Regards
Gary, Eurostar.com support

That is all very interesting but I booked through eurostar.com seven months out. I have their email confirmation still in my outbox. I looked at it yesterday. I purchased my tickets seven months prior to my travel date. There%26#39;s something else going on.
