Jardin de L'Odeon or Agora Saint Germain

I%26#39;m trying to decide between these two hotels. I%26#39;ve read the reviews and it looks like perhaps the Odeon is a little nicer but the Agora is in a more convenient location. Any recommendations?

I stayed at the Odeon the first time I went to Paris. It is very nice and on a quiet little street. My room had a very big lovely balcony, however it was right over the kitchen so very noisy when they started prepping breakfast. I had to wear ear plugs so I didn%26#39;t wake up at 6am, although the noise didn%26#39;t bother my husband. I%26#39;m not familiar with the other hotel, but the second time I went to Paris I stayed closer to Notre Dame and enjoyed the availability of more shops, restaurants, etc. I liked being closer to the Seine because it was more convenient for heading out in different directions.

Which hotel is better located really depends on what you%26#39;re looking for. The Agora St. Germain is closer to Notre Dame and the Seine, but I prefer the Jardin de l%26#39;Odeon%26#39;s proximity to the Jardin du Luxembourg and the foodie and shopping destinations further west in St. Germain. If you do prefer the proximity to Notre Dame etc., have you considered the Henri IV Rive Gauche?

If your visit will be for more than just a few days, perhaps you might want to split the visit into two different hotel stays, so you can experience two neighborhoods - say, the Marais and St. Germain.

Thanks for the advice. It is our first time in Paris, so we will be doing all of the typical %26quot;tourist%26quot; stuff. It sounds like it may be a good idea to stay towards the Seine. But I can%26#39;t really tell how far apart the hotels are. Would it be possible to walk to the Seine and Notre Dame from the Jardin hotel? Also, we will be coming in on the Eurostar train from London and then flying home from Paris. Is one more convenient to transportation than the other?

Yes, it%26#39;s very walkable from the Jardin de l%26#39;Odeon to the Seine and Notre Dame. However, if it%26#39;s your first visit, you might prefer being closer to these sights.

For easy access to the Gare du Nord and CDG by mass transit, it%26#39;s nice to be near an RER B station. The Jardin is within 2 blocks of the Luxembourg station. The Agora isn%26#39;t particularly close to an RER station, so you%26#39;d either have a longish walk, a transfer to the Metro, or a short cab ride. Again, I%26#39;d encourage you to check room rates at the Henri IV Rive Gauche, as it gets excellent reviews, has a very tourist-friendly location, and is also very convenient to mass transit for Eurostar and CDG (it%26#39;s much closer to the St. Michel RER station than is the Agora).

Actually, the hotel we stayed in during our second trip was the Henri IV Rive Gauche. I loved the hotel and the location.
