Organ Recital at St. Eustache

I understand that there is a free organ recital in St. Eustache church (in Les Halles area) on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m. Has anyone here ever been? Do you have any idea how long it is?

The reason I%26#39;m asking is that we would like to attend the recital, but would have to leave by 6:00 p.m. for other plans we have that evening. Is it okay to just get up and leave if you need to - or is that hideously rude? Also, do you make a donation to attend?

Thanks for any responses.

The grand organ auditions/concerts on Saturday evenings are usuall scheduled for 17:30 (5:30pm)

To thebest of my knowledge, there is no charge for these concerts...but it would be a rare parish that refused donations.

According to the web site for ST. Eustache, the free organ concerts are on Sunday (Dimanche) at 5:30, not Saturday ( unless you are referring to some other concert).

Yes we went in January. We arrived late but there were people walking around, it is a very large church, so I don%26#39;t think it would be rude to get up and go.

I think it lasted till about 18.30 but I am not sure. I must say the music was not to my taste and I was disappointed. It was very loud and discordant. (probably excellent but I am not that highbrow!)

The music they played for the service afterwards was much more pleasant and regular.

Thank you all very much for this info. Yes, I see from the website that it is indeed on Sundays at 5:30, and not Saturdays at 5:00. I can%26#39;t recall where I got this info from, so I%26#39;m glad that you have corrected it.

Thanks also Denise for your posting. I think I understand what type of music you mean - what my son has dubbed %26quot;scary organ music%26quot; that is often played after Mass. Not exactly the %26quot;Ode to Joy%26quot; kind of melodic music - and now that I know it is on Sunday, I%26#39;m not sure if it%26#39;s going to fit in with our plan for that day. We will still have a look at the church when we have a chance though.
