We (family of 4 kids ages 12 and 17) are hoping to go to France this summer. Trying to figure out how many days where. We love the city so planning on at least 3 days in Paris. Is that enough? Then friends of ours have family from small oyster beach town. We are thinking of renting an apartment for both spots. In between we were hoping to visit Normandy(Husband is big history buff) maybe doing day trips from beach. Wondering if anyone has a 1 week plus greatest hits for France.
Thank you

France is a small country compared to the USA but there is an enormous amount of places that are all extremely interesting so you will have to limit your choices to a bare minimum. Paris deserve at least 4 days for a first trip. It takes 2 days to look at the WWII beaches and cemeteries (there is a lot more to history in France than WWII but I think that what you mean). You didn%26#39;t say where the oyster beach town is located as there are several major oysters producing areas in France..and that location will help us give you pointers. I guess you are talking about a beach on Normandy, not the South West or the South?. Even little Normandy would take way more than a week to explore. You likely WILL have to rent a car to visit Normandy. I would stay in a hotel in PARIS as renting an apartment there for less than a week is not that easy and renting any apartment in Paris often means lots of cash up front, unless you rent an apartment-hotel.

Thank you. The area our friends are staying in is just a bit south of La Rouchelle. We were going to rent the car before (or after Paris). I%26#39;m sure you are right about four days in Paris. I%26#39;ve been looking at other Paris forums on Trip advisor to give me ideas on what not to miss in Paris. I would like for the four of us to be in one room or suite, without using up all of our funds on hotel money. Thank you very much for your info.

If you are staying in La Rochelle, you may not have enough time to go to Normandy.
However, La Rochelle and the surrounding area has a lot to offer. Don%26#39;t miss l%26#39;Ile de Ré and Oléron, there are gorgeous walks to do on these islands.
A day trip to Bordeaux is certainly possible, and you%26#39;ll find a lot of historical remains there (plus great Southern France food to buy!)

Thank you. I%26#39;m wondering if we could stretch our stay a bit, as husband and son would really like to see Normandy. The more I read about Paris, the more I feel like I can%26#39;t spend any less than 4 full days, in order to get a proper feel of the city.
