special dining places for grandma

Im taking my 88 year old mom to paris next month. I have been there twice before, so I know the museums, layout, ect. What I am wondering is there any where special I should take her for lunch or dinner that would be very memorable. Not looking for gourmet dining, just special experiences.. like dinner at the Eiffel Tower... that kind of thing. Thanks.

There were two places my mother particularly enjoyed - one was Restaurant Terminus Nord, across the street from Gare du Nord. It is decorated in brass and green glass, and looks exactly as it would have done at the turn of the century, as do the waiters. This was the Paris of my mother%26#39;s imagination, and she loved every minute of it. We went there for dinner before catching a train back to Brussels, our holiday destination, after a surprise long weekend weekend in Paris - talk about bragging rights!

The other place that caught her imagination was La Taverne du Sergent Recruteur on rue St-Louis-en-l%26#39;Ile. She was captivated by the history of the place, and I knew she could see it all unfolding as she looked the place over. It%26#39;s not at all a fancy restaurant, and certainly not a gourmand%26#39;s delight, but she really enjoyed it, and that%26#39;s all that I was interested in.

I%26#39;m sure that she would enjoy going to the Crillon Hotel and to their l%26#39;Obelisque for lunch. Go on a Sunday or Monday. Those are the days that their %26quot;regular%26#39;s (and what they call their nice people)are always there.Go online for all the info and to make a reservation.

Enjoy..

I think you said it best.... Dinner on the Eiffel Tower. This is the only place on earth where you can do that AND have Paris at your feet.

Le Train Bleu is another fave that I find to be particularly special and historic and beautiful.

Phread took my answer! Definitely Le Train Bleu. It%26#39;s a visual masterpiece. The food is okay too, though not spectacular. Have a peek: http://www.le-train-bleu.com/

Phread and Happygoin took my answer too! We loved Le Train Bleu, and I%26#39;m sure your Mom will too! We thought the food was great, the service impeccable, and the surroundings...well, they are beyond belief.

Here%26#39;s a little video clip that shows a bit more of the restaurant. It%26#39;s narrated in French, but you can see how beautiful it is inside. Also, although the main restrooms are downstairs, there is a small ladies room near the cloakroom on the main floor so your Mom won%26#39;t have to traverse the stairs.

Have a nice trip!
