Boarding TGV at St Pierre des Corps

I%26#39;ve just booked TGV tickets to go from Tours to Paris on tgv-europe, am supposed to pick up my ticket at Tours train station with my credit card, board the shuttle from Tours and change to a TGV train at St. Pierre des Corps, which then goes to Paris.

Our accomodation is actually closer to StPdesC and I was wondering if there would be any problems if I fronted up to the ticket counter at StPdesC and ask for them to issue me a ticket there instead, and board the TGV there?

Thanks heaps!

As long as you have:

1. the reservation%26#39;s confirmation number

2. possession of the credit card used in the ticket%26#39;s purchase

you may pick up your tickets any time from any SNCF service window or boutique.

I know of no reason why you could not just board at St Pierre des Corps but do not forget to validate your tickets.

Thank you Sarastro. I didn%26#39;t know about the need to validate tix before so thanks for the tip!

After you have collected your ticket, before you head into the subway that leads to the platforms, look out for the orange (they used to be yellow, but I think they are orange now) posts around the steps. At the top is small machine that stamps your ticket. Watch other passengers if you are not sure. If you doing a return trip, only stamp the ticket for the one way that you are travelling. It is an offence to travel on the TGV without stamping (composter in French) your ticket.

I had originally written: %26quot;... do not forget to compost your tickets.%26quot;

Though not always evident, I generally try to proof read my posts and this time in so doing realized that my use of this phrase would probably cause more confusion than I ever intended.

excellent, thanks heaps. now I%26#39;ve learnt another French word :)

Tell you something that occurs to me... even though you%26#39;re closer to St Pierre des Corps that Tours Gare it may be a lot easier to get to the central station and use your full ticket. I say this coz I always get lost on my way to St P D C, and there is a lot of work going on the area. It is also surrounded by shops, including a huge IKEA, which may mean the trafiic is difficult

Thanks Simon. We%26#39;re actually dropping off a car, and were thinking of just dumping it at the station which I understand has a drop off point. We have a GPS so hopefully it will be ok. But thanks for tip cause now I know to look for the Ikea as a sign!

|||

According to the local press, Ikea opens on 22 October, i.e. tomorrow, and they are expecting 22,000 visitors. After that it should die down. Also apparently the new Ikea is near the Parc des Expositions, so I do not think it will cause problems with traffic at St Pierre des Corps, although it depends where you will be coming from.

Sunlover - I always end up driving past (or even through) les Atlantes when I am in that part of town. Isn%26#39;t Ikea the other side of the main road there? It%26#39;s like some sort of evil plot! Either that or there is a roadsign missing just at a critical moment (That would be %26quot;typically French%26quot;, then!)

When I drive to St Pierre des Corps I usually come off the motorway at Tours Central and approach the station from the Avenue Georges Pompidou; i.e. the other side of the railway lines from the commercial center. Coming from the north or the west, I would still not approach the station from the Les Atlantes side.
